The Table
Leonel's house.
Malveiro is a family affair, and you feel it the moment you sit down. Leonel runs the room the old way — walking you through the menu dish by dish so you know exactly what you're eating, pouring what suits the plate, remembering the wine you liked last spring — while Catia's kitchen sends out plate after plate with the same quiet conviction.
The cooking is Mediterranean at heart, but its soul travelled a long way to get here. The family's roots run back to Mozambique, and that warmth still lives on the menu: giant prawns in a mildly-spiced butter, curries with real fragrance, fish softened in coconut. Beside them sit the plates of home — a tenderloin, a cabrito from the hills.
Nothing is here to show off. It's on the plate because it tastes right. Guests call the place "a jewel" — we just call it dinner, done properly, night after night.
